Job description

Panel Maintenance Coordinator, Bureau of World Trade Center Health Registry

The World Trade Center Health Registry (WTCHR) was created in 2002 to monitor and evaluate the physical and mental health impact on more than 71,000 persons exposed to the September 11, 2001 disaster. Housed within the Center for Population Health Data Science in a renowned and dynamic agency, the Registry's research influences national policies concerning healthcare for those who survived the attacks and contributes novel epidemiologic findings to the post-disaster public health literature. Reporting to the Manager for Panel Maintenance Unit, the coordinator will be member of a team that serves as the front-line representatives of the WTC Health Registry (WTCHR) enrollees and the public. Panel Maintenance strives to provide accurate information to our enrollees and the public in a timely and sensitive manner, while maintaining their confidentiality. Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Conduct outreach to Registry enrollees to recruit for ancillary studies and assist with reminders for Registry follow-up surveys.
  • Performing on-going tracing activities to update and maintain current contact information of Registry enrollees.
  • Performing data entry and tracking of enrollee information updates and change of consent status.
  • Assisting in survey intake, data capture processes, and data cleaning.
  • Assisting the Registry Treatment and Referral Program Unit (TRP) with outreach to Registry enrollees to facilitate enrollment in the WTC Health Program.
  • Collaborating with the Registry Public Affairs Unit on the production and deployment of communication materials.
  • Responding to inquiries about the WTCHR via telephone, email, or mail.
  • Performing other tasks based on the Registry's needs, including the preparation of written reports, and conducting quality assurance and data analysis.

Preferred skills include excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient knowledge of SAS and/or other statistical packages, high organization, ability to work well in teams and independently on multiple simultaneous projects, good knowledge of statistical and research methodology, and proficiency in Adobe Cloud software, including InDesign, Premiere, and Photoshop. Bi-lingual candidates proficient in Spanish, Mandarin or Cantonese are a plus.

Why you should work for us:

  • Benefits: City employees are entitled to unmatched benefits such as a premium-free health insurance plan that saves employees over $10K annually, per a 2024 assessment. Additional health, fitness, and financial benefits may be available based on the position's associated union/benefit fund. A public sector defined benefit pension plan with steady monthly payments in retirement. A tax-deferred savings program and a robust Worksite Wellness Program that offers resources and opportunities to keep you healthy while serving New Yorkers.
  • Work From Home Policy: Depending on your position, you may be able to work up to two days during the week from home.
  • Job Security: You could enjoy more job security compared to private sector employment and be able to contribute to making NYC a healthy place to live and work.
