Job description
The iconic Waverly Inn and Garden located in the West Village is seeking passionate prep cooks to join the team. Must have morning and weekend availability.
Job essential responsibilities:
- Prepare food for service; portioning, chopping, and storing food before use
- Follow a prep list with working knowledge of ingredients and Palma's recipes
- Maintain department cleanliness and organization, adhere to safe work and equipment practices, and follow all food safety, health and sanitation standards
- Replenish kitchen inventory and supplies as needed
- Ensure all the products and prepared items are properly labeled and handled following FIFO (first in, first out)
- Follow Palma's policies and guidelines
Your skills and experience:
- 2+ years in a similar position within an upscale dining environment
- Ability to follow an accurate prep schedule
- Excellent command of kitchen techniques, from portionin to manipulation of market produce
- High standards for cleanliness of workspace and service areas
- Knowledge of Italian cuisine a plus
- DOH certificate required
- Ability to work independently as well as a team leader
- Excellent verbal & non-verbal communication skills
- Impeccable attention to detail
