Job description
Make a meaningful impact by providing specialized support and expertise as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in a vibrant educational environment near Cibolo, TX. This contract role focuses on delivering essential services for students with visual impairments, collaborating closely with education teams to ensure student success.
What you'll bring:
- Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist credentials (OMS)
- Experience teaching or providing support as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Proficiency in both direct instruction and consultative services
- Thorough knowledge of assessment tools, such as Functional Vision Evaluations (FVE), Learning Media Assessments (LMA), and O&M assessments
- Strong communication skills for consultation with staff and participation in ARD meetings
- Excellent organizational habits for material preparation and documentation
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering direct instructional hours to students needing orientation and mobility training
- Providing indirect support through collaboration and consultation with educators and staff
- Conducting evaluations and assessments related to visual impairment, and recommending appropriate strategies
- Attending and contributing to ARD meetings to develop and review individualized student plans
- Preparing and adapting materials to support students' needs
