Job description

Job Title: Residential Reentry Specialist (NMCD #17487) Applications submitted without work experience or a resume will not be considered. If attaching a résumé, the résumé must include dates of employment for each job (month & year) and details of work experience / job duties. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. Due to the available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $31.50 per hour. Why does the job exist? This position is responsible for the development of parole and release plans for inmates and offenders under the supervision of the New Mexico Corrections Department. The position will work with inmates, probation officers, and other agencies to develop parole and release plans. How does it get done? Performs pre‑release case management for the reentry and integration of inmates/offenders releasing from an NMCD correctional facility. Works with facility medical, education, behavioral health, and other facility staff to create a successful reentry plan for the inmate. Evaluates inmates using questionnaires and psychological tests. Writes treatment plans and summaries for each inmate. Counsels inmates/offenders and creates rehabilitation plans for them to follow when they are no longer in prison or on parole. Who are the customers? The New Mexico Corrections Facilities. Ideal Candidate Experienced in the following: Assisting interdisciplinary teams in the evaluation of offenders. Participating in follow‑up services and providing monitoring of offenders. Inmate classification process. The reentry process. Application of Good Time Laws. Monitoring activities using a tracking system. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Guidance and Counseling, Penology, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Family Studies/Services, Criminology, or related field, as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or experience in a correctional setting, records management, file auditing, case management, law enforcement, counseling, social work, government assistance programs, rehabilitative environment, working on health or social service‑related matters, behavioral health, policy and/or statutory compliance totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education. Employment Requirements This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre‑employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Pre‑employment background check is required and conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
