Job description

Technical Delivery Lead (Hybrid Remote/Washington, DC)

Tantus, a Sikich Subsidiary, is seeking a Technical Delivery Lead to serve as the primary delivery lead for assigned workstreams supporting NHTSA's technology organization. This role is responsible for leading the successful execution of IT services, modernization initiatives, and operational support activities while ensuring alignment with mission priorities, contractual commitments, and customer expectations. The Technical Delivery Lead combines strong technical expertise with proven delivery leadership to coordinate cross-functional teams across cloud, infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, data, and operational support environments.

Serving as the bridge between customer stakeholders, technical teams, and program leadership, this individual will ensure priorities are translated into actionable plans, resources are aligned effectively, risks are proactively managed, and delivery commitments are met. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in dynamic federal environments, builds trusted customer relationships, drives accountability, and consistently delivers high-quality outcomes that advance mission objectives.

This position requires regular onsite engagement with NHTSA stakeholders approximately 12 days per week.

What will you do in this role?

  • Lead day-to-day technical delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring services, projects, and operational activities are planned, staffed, executed, and completed in accordance with contractual requirements, customer priorities, and quality expectations.
  • Serve as the primary delivery liaison between federal stakeholders, program leadership, and technical teams, ensuring alignment of priorities, dependencies, risks, and execution activities.
  • Engage directly with customer stakeholders to understand operational challenges, emerging requirements, and mission objectives, translating needs into actionable delivery plans and technical solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership across cloud, infrastructure, application, data, cybersecurity, systems integration, and operational support functions, ensuring teams remain focused on delivering reliable and effective outcomes.
  • Coordinate and allocate technical resources based on priorities, workload, technical expertise, and delivery timelines to maximize team effectiveness and execution success.
  • Monitor delivery performance using established metrics, milestones, service levels, and operational objectives, proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead technical discussions, solution reviews, risk assessments, and decision-making sessions with customer and contractor teams to drive clarity, alignment, and progress.
  • Oversee operational support activities, incident response coordination, escalation management, and issue resolution efforts to maintain service continuity and minimize mission impact.
  • Identify, track, and manage delivery risks, issues, dependencies, and technical blockers, ensuring timely mitigation and resolution.
  • Partner closely with the Senior Program Manager to support contract execution, delivery governance, workforce planning, customer communications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure deliverables, operational practices, technical recommendations, and team outputs comply with contract requirements, federal standards, security requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Establish and maintain delivery management processes, reporting mechanisms, and execution disciplines that provide transparency into performance, status, and outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, responsiveness, continuous improvement, and customer focus by setting high expectations and modeling professional leadership.
  • Maintain a strong onsite customer presence to strengthen relationships, build trust, facilitate collaboration, and identify opportunities to enhance mission support and service delivery.
  • What do you need to succeed in this role?

    • Must be a United States Citizen and must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued Public Trust
    • Ability and willingness to engage in person with the customer 12 days per week and operate effectively within a highly collaborative federal client environment.
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
    • 1215+ years of experience leading technical delivery, IT operations, managed services, modernization initiatives, or technology implementation efforts within federal environments.
    • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams responsible for delivering complex IT services, operational support, and technology solutions for federal customers.
    • Strong technical depth with the ability to understand, direct, and oversee work across cloud environments, enterprise applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems integration, operations, and support services.
    • Proven experience managing technology delivery teams in operational, service delivery, managed services, application support, or hybrid project environments.
    • Experience assessing customer requests, operational issues, and emerging requirements; determining appropriate technical approaches; and assigning resources to achieve successful outcomes.
    • Proven ability to engage credibly with customers, engineers, architects, analysts, cybersecurity professionals, and operations personnel while driving consensus and accountability.
    • Experience tracking and reporting delivery performance through KPIs, SLAs, operational dashboards, service management metrics, and executive-level reporting.
    • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, including the ability to align competing priorities, resolve conflicts, and establish trust across diverse federal and contractor organizations.
    • Experience leading incident management, problem management, operational readiness, service transition, or continuous service improvement initiatives.
    • Strong ownership mindset, with a demonstrated track record of taking initiative, following through on commitments, and driving issues, risks, and decisions to closure.
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with execution discipline, ensuring work is planned, tracked, prioritized, and delivered consistently in complex operational environments.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Experience working in Agile, SAFe, hybrid, or operational delivery environments while maintaining delivery momentum amid evolving priorities.
    • PMP, ITIL, Scrum, SAFe, cloud, cybersecurity, or related professional certifications are strongly preferred.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $160,000 -$180,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.

In addition, specific skills/experience required are as follows:

    • Servant Leader You are hyper focused on engaging employees, fostering their development, and building a positive culture.
    • Solutions Focused You see opportunities in every business problem and can develop, articulate, and implement solutions.
    • Collaboration You are a relationship builder across all levels of the organization and across all business units.
    • Instills Trust - You do what you say, and you follow through on commitments, you act with integrity, you are consistent and are perceived as credible.
    • Impact & Influence Thinking You gain support for ideas, proposals, and solutions, and get others to act, with or without formal authority, to advance initiatives/objectives.
