Emergency Department Technician - Nights

Summary: Provides patient care in the ED as delegated by the Licensed Nursing Staff. Performs EKGs and phlebotomy as needed in the department within the scope of the NA II.
Responsibilities:
- Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services.
- Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital.
- Insures that contacts with other health care members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.
Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Completion of North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant II course.
- Completes the EKG and phlebotomy on the job training.
Professional Experience Requirement:
- Two years of health care experience preferred.
Licensure/Registration/Certification:
- Certified by the State Board of Nursing as a NA II and BLS certification.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Requirements:
- Good interpersonal communication and observation skills are essential.
- Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of protective equipment.
- Exposure to other infectious diseases.
- Exposure to chemicals utilized to clean and disinfect equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Working and standing throughout the shift.
- Lifting, pulling, turning, and pushing patients daily.
