JOB SUMMARY:

A Fusion Technician 1 is a safety conscious hardworking individual that is dedicated to helping customers with their HDPE fusion needs. Technicians perform tasks involving physical labor on customer jobsites and in-house at different Milford branches. This includes operating fusion equipment hand tools power tools and assisting with various tasks. Whether working alone with or with a small team our technicians have the professionalism and technical skill to get the job done right.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Understand and follow all safety policies and apply good safety practices
2. Perform pre-operation equipment inspections per machine before each use
3. Operate company vehicles and equipment such as small engine trucks forklifts and aerial lifts
4. Mobilization support as needed of company equipment
5. Keep work area company vehicles and equipment clean
6. Ability to perform fusions on HDPE pipe and fittings per industry standards
7. Determine whether final product meets quality control standards
8. Ability to operate a fusion data recording device
9. Operate Small/Med. diameter squeeze tools (Up to 12)
10. Assist with operation of Large diameter squeeze tools (Up to 24)
11. Basic fabrication of HDPE components such as risers tees manifolds etc.
12. Complete detailed daily field reports
13. Report any equipment maintenance schedules and repairs to Technical Service Director.
14. Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Safety Conscious
2. Ability to perform and obtain fusion certificate on HDPE pipe up to 18 within 14 calendar days
3. Complete PEC training.
4. Excellent customer services skills.
5. Professionalism.
6. Ability to perform basic math.
7. Operation of company vehicle
8. Ability to read and follow technical instructions
9. Verbal/Written Communication
10. Proficient with technology such as email and phone applications
11. Strong time management skills
12. Ability to read GPS Coordinates for site locations

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Enclosed warehouse outdoor storage yard office setting classroom setting and field setting
2. Occasional high noise level dust fumes such as fuel or exhaust may be encountered.
3. Sometimes exposed inclement weather while working outside or driving vehicle.
4. Occasionally exposed to bright or dim lighting conditions while driving.
5. Ability to work around moving equipment.
6. Exposure to H2S and other toxic fumes on customer locations.
7. Driving through tough terrain on customer locations

SCHEDULE: 7AM TO 5PM Monday through Friday with the ability to work overtime and weekends when required by customer schedule or Technical Services Director. Must also be available to work rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements

DRUG TESTING REQUIRMENTS: This position is subject to PHMSA drug testing in accordance with Milford policies.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a valid drivers license and must pass MVR requirements in accordance with Milford policies.

BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS: This position is subject to a third-party position specific background check in accordance with Milford policies and procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION:

1. 2 years of related experience preferred.
2. Ability to pass safety and fusion training courses and maintain certifications
3. Ability to obtain client specific safety training

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to stand sit stoop reach with arms kneel and push/pull/lift 50 pounds.
2. Ability to walk long distances in rough terrain.
3. Stooping crouching kneeling crawling climbing ramps or stairs.
4. Must take necessary precautions to protect eyes nose and skin from irritation and infection.
5. Ability to wear PPE.
6. Prolonged periods sitting while driving.
7. Must be able to physically perform repairs in various environments
8. Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
9. Good vision to inspect repair work.
10. Must be able to bend stretch kneel and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
11. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
12. Reaching overhead at or below shoulder level.
13. Keyboarding.
14. Driving (and ability to maintain valid drivers license and pass MVR in accordance with insurance requirements)
15. Sitting for long periods of time.
16. Standing for extended periods of time
