Accounting Specialist
Are you an experienced Accounting Specialist or Bookkeeper who enjoys keeping financial operations organized and accurate? We're looking for a detail-oriented accounting professional to manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting while supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing organization.
Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent accounting or bookkeeping experience may be considered in place of formal education.
Experience Requirements
Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial administration. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities. Experience preparing reconciliations and maintaining financial records. Experience processing payroll and payroll tax reporting is preferred. Experience with accounting software; Foundation software experience is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Experience in construction accounting is preferred but not required.
Job Duties
Process monthly accounts receivable (AR) progress billings. Coordinate, obtain, and track vendor and contractor lien releases. Follow up on outstanding customer accounts and vendor inquiries. Process weekly accounts payable (AP) check runs. Process payroll and maintain payroll tax records. Reconcile company credit card statements. Maintain accurate financial records and accounting documentation. Prepare month-end and year-end general ledger entries as directed. Process monthly sales tax filings. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies. Process subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and invoices. Maintain revenue, expense, inventory, and cash reporting spreadsheets. Collaborate with the outside accounting firm to support financial reporting. Assist with additional accounting and administrative projects as assigned.
Physical Capabilities
Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, calculator, and other office equipment. Ability to occasionally lift and carry files or office materials up to 20 pounds. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and internal staff. Ability to maintain focus and accuracy while managing multiple deadlines.
