Job Overview The Area Director of Sales & Marketing directs all sales and marketing activities for Sheraton McKinney Hotel and TownePlace Suites McKinney, maximizing occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and profitability. This role develops and implements annual plans, manages budgets and forecasts, analyzes market trends, and identifies new revenue opportunities within the McKinney and North Texas markets. Key Responsibilities Lead all group, corporate, extended‑stay, and local business sales for both properties. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, community organizations, and tourism partners. Conduct site tours, prepare customized proposals, negotiate contracts, and oversee successful conversion of business opportunities. Monitor STAR reports, booking pace, market demand, and other performance metrics to adjust sales strategies and achieve revenue goals. Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate sales team members while fostering accountability, collaboration, and guest‑focused service. Work closely with the General Managers, Revenue Management, and Operations teams to align sales strategies with operational capabilities and guest expectations. Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards, company policies, and all applicable regulations. Represent the properties at industry events, networking functions, and community activities to enhance brand visibility and generate new business. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred. Five (5) or more years of progressive sales leadership experience, with hospitality industry experience strongly preferred. Proven track record of driving revenue growth, achieving financial objectives, and leading high‑performing sales teams while maintaining professionalism and integrity. Skills and Abilities Strategic sales initiative development and execution to drive revenue growth. Strong analytical and business acumen, interpreting market trends and financial data to make sound decisions. Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills with a customer‑focused approach. Leadership ability to recruit, coach, motivate, and develop teams while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Professionalism, integrity, diplomacy, and confidentiality in all interactions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel sales and revenue management systems. Ability to travel as business needs require. Working Conditions and Physical Effort The position is performed in a professional office and hotel environment, with regular travel between Sheraton McKinney and TownePlace Suites McKinney and occasional local travel for client meetings and events. The role requires extended sitting, standing, walking, and operation of office equipment. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands dictate. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
