QUALIFICATIONS Required: Master's in Library Science, Instructional Technology or related field; Ohio Media Specialist certification or teaching license; Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in teaching and/or library services with a strong focus on instructional collaboration; Demonstrated ability to integrate digital tools and information literacy into curriculum. Desired: Experience with various social, cultural, and economic student populations; Experience in an urban setting; Ability to communicate effectively with administrators, staff, parents, students, and community; Willingness and ability to plan and develop new educational initiatives; Commitment to use best practices and research‑based curriculum, instruction, and assessment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Collaborate with students and other members of the learning community to analyze learning and information needs, locate and use resources that meet those needs, and communicate the information provided by those resources; Maintain knowledge of current research on teaching and learning and apply findings to a variety of situations; Instruct students to access, evaluate, and use information from multiple sources to learn, think, create, and apply new knowledge; Maintain a current collection designed to meet the diverse needs of the learning community, developed with collaboration from the community and consultation of school library review resources; Serve as a curricular leader and a full participant on the instructional team; Update personal skills and knowledge to work effectively with teachers, administrators, and other staff; Work with teachers, administrators, and other staff to expand their understanding of information issues and provide specific opportunities to develop sophisticated information‑literacy skills, including the use of information technology; Identify links across student information needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and a wide variety of print, non‑print, and electronic information resources; Lead the entire school community in developing policies, practices, and curricula that guide students to become college and career‑ready; Collaborate with teachers to design authentic learning tasks and assessments, integrating information and communication abilities required to meet subject‑matter and arts standards; Provide leadership and expertise in acquiring and evaluating information resources in all formats; Advocate for the library media program, provide vision, and steer it creatively in the 21st century; Manage staff, budgets, equipment, and facilities, plan, execute, and evaluate the program to ensure its quality on a day‑to‑day basis; Provide opportunities for student leadership through activities related to literacy, incorporating the arts; Communicate program goals, statistics, and library programming to library/media services and the building principal; Report to and be supervised by the building principal.
