Education & Visitor Services Manager

The Education & Visitor Services Manager role is a multifaceted position that develops strategic outreach, builds partnerships with local organizations, and designs interactive public programming. This position is responsible for coordinating front desk operations, developing engaging adult and youth programs, managing school and community partnerships, overseeing program budgets, and recruiting and supporting volunteers. The expectation of this position is to deliver high-quality visitor experiences, expand community engagement, and advance the museum's educational mission while ensuring the care and preservation of the museum's collection during public programming. This position requires an individual with a deep passion for art and the ability to engage with diverse audiences.

Mission: To preserve the former art collection of John and Kimiko Powers, now under the stewardship of the Ryobi Foundation, highlight the paper works of Jasper Johns, and cultivate the next generation of art lovers and collectors.

Working Relationships:

• Reports to Operations Director
• Works closely with Facilities Director, Community Engagement Manager and Collections, Technology and Facilities Manager
• Supervises Founding Director, Museum Associates, and volunteers
• Limited Board interaction

Responsibilities include:

Visitor Services

• Manage front desk scheduling to ensure consistent visitor services coverage.
• Develop and maintain exhibition-themed Power Packs to enhance the visitor experience.
• Oversee visitor exit survey administration, data collection, and reporting.
• Coordinate and manage vacation schedules for all part-time staff.

Adult Programs

• Plan, coordinate, and execute adult education and community engagement programs, including Powers' Talks, exhibition openings, and art-making events.
• Manage event RSVPs and coordinate staffing for public programs and exhibition openings.
• Develop engaging programs and events that highlight and celebrate the museum's permanent collection.
• Manage the annual operating budget for community and school programming.

Youth & School Programs

• Develop and implement strategies for engaging youth in art.
• Coordinate and staff school field trips, summer camp visits, and other youth group experiences.
• Lead guided tours for school groups while ensuring the safety and preservation of the museum's collection.
• Design interactive Learning Lab activities and exhibition-specific Power Packs that support educational goals and reflect the breadth of the collection.
• Facilitate monthly Artful Story Hour, held on the first Saturday of each month.
• Build and maintain relationships with local educators to promote museum educational opportunities and increase school participation.

Volunteer Program

• Recruit, interview, onboard, and train new volunteers, including coordinating background checks.
• Maintain volunteer schedules and accurately track volunteer hours using SignUpGenius and Google Calendar.
• Collect and evaluate volunteer feedback to support ongoing program improvement and retention.
• Expand and strengthen the volunteer program by developing opportunities for high school student

Time and Compensation Details:

Full-time, exempt; 40 hours per week at minimum. Some nights and weekends required.

Salary range is $85,000 to $95,000. Benefits include 100% coverage of medical and dental insurance premiums, professional development budget, annual wellness benefit, 403 (b) matching program, and generous paid time off.
