The Mail & Print Technician I supports the Colleges Mail & Print operations by operating and maintaining digital and wide format printing equipment as well as high-speed mail processing machinery. This position handles job intake and scheduling, print production and design, bulk mailing and postage optimization, and billing support, while maintaining strong customer relations with campus departments and assisting the supervisor with equipment, policy, and inventory management.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Operate and maintain multiple digital color printers/copiers
Knowledge of Fiery Command WorkStation
Knowledge of Wide Format printing
Responsible for bulk mailings
Usage of software to sort and print addresses to save postage
Operate and maintain high-speed folders, inserters, cutters, creasers
Maintain good customer relations in person, via email and on the phone
Handle all customers incoming and outgoing job requests and schedule based on priority
Suggest changes in job where appropriate to optimize quality, speed and cost
Process and design jobs for business cards, letterhead, envelopes, custom cards, brochures, invites, posters and tablets to print using a variety of Adobe design software
Assist with maintaining a spreadsheet for job tickets and assist supervisor with monthly billing for printing and postage
Assist supervisor with research and input on new equipment contracts and travel to equipment sites as needed
Assist supervisor with creating departmental policies and programs
Assist with ordering and maintain inventory for all office supplies including paper for all of the printers on the Xerox contract
Train new student employees
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum of Five years of Print and Copy Experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and work in a team environment
Must be able to pass a job-related background check
Must demonstrate a high level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
Experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
Attention to detail, including experience performing accurate self-review of completed assignments
