Position Summary The Department of Literature, Journalism, Writing, and Languages seeks an adjunct teacher for modern languages. The candidate should be capable of excellent teaching with experience and fluency in French, German, or Chinese. This is an in-person teaching position with responsibilities beginning August 2026. Responsibilities Provide instruction in French, German, and/or Chinese, including some general education and service courses. Work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, parents and community members. Qualifications Master’s degree in a specified discipline; Doctorate preferred. Minimum one year of teaching experience and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching students from diverse backgrounds. Commitment to Christian liberal arts education and to working at a Christian university; support for the religious and educational goals. Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement; willingness to live in accordance with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant. Background check required; PLNU will consider applicants with criminal histories in alignment with state and local Fair Chance laws. Selection Process Applicants will submit an application and accompanying documents. All applicants will be reviewed. A limited number will be advanced in the process. Interviews may include: phone/Zoom, teaching demonstration, and meetings with the Academic Unit Leader and the Dean. Special Instructions Number of adjunct instructors hired varies by semester. There may not be an adjunct position open now. If an opening is suitable, the department academic unit leader will contact you for dialogue and interviews. Approved applicants remain in the adjunct pool for the upcoming school year; to be reconsidered for the following year, reapplication is required. If hired, official transcripts are required before a contract is issued.
