We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Staffing Coordinator to manage all nursing department schedules at Chestnut Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Oneonta, NY. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the facility is consistently and appropriately staffed to provide safe, high-quality care to residents while meeting state and federal regulatory requirements.
Job Summary
The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the facility is consistently and appropriately staffed to provide safe, high-quality care to residents while meeting state and federal regulatory requirements. This role acts as a bridge between nursing leadership and frontline staff like RNs, LPNs, and CNAs to manage daily operations and personnel needs.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule Creation: Develop and post monthly work schedules for nursing department using facility software.
Shift Coverage: Manage daily call-outs and emergencies by promptly securing coverage to maintain required staff-to-patient ratios.
Recruitment & Onboarding: Assist HR with sourcing, interviewing, and orienting new clinical hires.
Compliance Tracking: Maintain accurate records of staff attendance, daily schedules, and other administrative duties.
Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Director of Nursing regarding vacancies, overtime justification, and external agency usage.
Payroll Support: Verify staff hours and coordinate with Human Resources to ensure accurate weekly payroll.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED required;
Experience: At least 1-2 years of staffing or scheduling experience in a long-term care (LTC) or skilled nursing environment preferred but not required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and computerized scheduling systems
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and the ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
