Position Description
Lead Healthcare That Makes a DifferenceJoin a mission-driven team at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Managed Care where your clinical expertise and leadership have a direct impact on patient outcomes. As the Correctional Unit Medical Director, you will oversee the delivery of comprehensive healthcare services within a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) facility, ensuring timely, high-quality, and accessible care for an underserved patient population. Working with significant autonomy, you will provide medical oversight, exercise independent clinical judgment, and ensure compliance with TTUHSC Correctional Health Services policies, TDCJ regulations, and National Commission on Correctional Health Care standards.
In addition to providing patient care, you will lead and mentor a team of physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, fostering a culture of clinical excellence and collaboration. Reporting to the Regional Medical Director, this role offers a unique opportunity to combine hands-on medicine with leadership while partnering with TTUHSC faculty, healthcare professionals, and correctional leadership to improve health outcomes and advance correctional healthcare.
This position requires a monthly onsite presence at the assigned correctional unit(s) to provide clinical leadership, collaborate with facility staff, and support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
