Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior‑based expression of the hospital’s Standards of Excellence. This position is a student and only applies prescribed ionizing radiation procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail for diagnostic purposes under the prescription of a physician. Assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures as required. Participates in Stand‑by/on‑call rotation with other Radiology Technologist staff. Required Education, Training and Experience; Certification/Licensure Currently enrolled as a second‑year student in an ARRT approved school. Current WA State license active and in good standing as an X‑Ray Technician (XT). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification. Special Equipment, Skills or Other Requirements Functional with designated radiation emitting, processing and record retrieval equipment. Good critical thinking skills required. Clerical and computer skills required. Proficiency in written and verbal communication in English language is required as a business necessity. Use of personal protective equipment as appropriate; training related to blood‑borne pathogens is required. Work Environment and Hazards Adheres to all State and Federal regulations pertaining to hazardous materials and radiation emitting equipment. Risk of exposure to communicable disease, and risk of physical injury from lifting, moving or transferring patients. Work Contact Group All hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel and medical staff. Special Physical Demands Ability to transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher and transfer patients to radiology table as necessary. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time; stoop, bend, push and pull. Must be able to transport, transfer and assist patients using Zero Lift techniques and equipment. Operates technical equipment requiring manual and visual dexterity. Supervised By System Leader of Diagnostic Imaging Essential Functions / Technical Performs radiographic procedures using appropriate positioning technical factors per departmental policy and protocols; demonstrates an understanding of anatomical landmarks and places appropriate markers on each film. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of ALARA; wears film badge, turns it in for monthly evaluation and exercises necessary radiation protection for patients, self and personnel. Ensures that patients are properly identified, prepared and protected for radiological procedures. Performs other related duties incidental to diagnostic radiology, such as answering telephones, faxing reports, and documenting patient quality care issues as appropriate; participates in department QA processes. Monitors work schedule and patient flow continuously to minimize patient delays and complaints, using down‑time productively. Maintains knowledge of and practices department‑specific and hospital‑wide policies and procedures. Participates in required in‑service education; maintains departmental competencies. Provides appropriate patient care, ensuring proper clothing and draping, explains procedure, facilitates patient comfort, monitors medical equipment. Demonstrates respect for patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality. Maintains cleanliness and safety, washes/sanitizes hands before and after each patient contact, adheres to infection control policies. Transports and transfers patients as needed using Zero Lift techniques. Documents and queries patient regarding contrast allergies, prior reactions, pregnancy, and evaluates need for pre‑medication with Radiologist. Demonstrates courteous, polite, friendly, and respectful interactions with others, enhancing perceptions of hospital. Performs other duties as assigned. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth Monroe and United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Local3000. #J-18808-Ljbffr
