Raytheon's Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) strategic business unit (SBU) specializes in multi-integrated air and missile defense, advanced sensors, space-based systems, hypersonics, effectors and cyber solutions. Focused on program execution, business growth and the highest level of customer satisfaction, the ASDS team provides customers with unmatched capabilities of detection and sensing, command and control, and air-to-air, air-to-surface, and surface-to-air munitions to accomplish air, space and missile defense missions.
The ASDS SBU Engineering Execution Team is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to serve as the Data Link Electronics (DLE) Integrated Product Team Lead for the AMRAAM C9/D4 program. In this role, you will provide strategic and technical leadership for a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for delivering a modernized replacement for the legacy DLE. You will guide architecture evolution, software rehosting, and hardware integration efforts to ensure a future-ready design that supports long-term capability growth and sustainment.
This is an onsite role located in McKinney and/or Richardson, TX.
What You Will Do
- Lead a cross-functional engineering team in delivering a fully modernized DLE solution, driving technical direction across software re-hosting, architecture updates, and hardware integration.
- Serve as Control Account Manager, accountable for planning, budgeting, earned value performance, forecasting, and variance management across all DLE activities.
- Define and prioritize capabilities in the DLE backlog and maintain an integrated product roadmap that aligns with program objectives, modernization strategy, and mission needs.
- Interpret and translate contractual and customer requirements into executable engineering plans while ensuring adherence to system-level performance expectations.
- Partner with System Architects, Product Owners, and Cross-Product Team Leads to ensure architectural alignment, interface integrity, and seamless integration within the broader system.
- Support Agile execution by clarifying capabilities, shaping MVPs, contributing to Epic development, and representing the DLE product within Agile Release Train events to maintain cadence and cross-team alignment.
- Proactively manage technical debt, program risks, and mitigation plans to preserve technical integrity and delivery performance.
- Ensure compliance with EVMS processes, engineering standards, quality requirements, and safety policies across all DLE product activities.
- Recognize team members for project wins and excellence.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of ten (10) years' prior relevant experience prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Earned Value Management System (EVMS) certification.
- Experience with program management tools including the Integrated Master Plan (IMP), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Baseline Change Requests (BCR), and Risk and Opportunity Management systems.
- Experience with budget, schedule, Estimate at Complete (EAC) process, and financial performance report generation with Engineering programs.
- Experience with Agile development on a large program
- Active and transferable Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience managing a multi-disciplinary team of sub-IPT leads and engineers.
- Experience directing remote and on-site teams to achieve unified program objectives.
- Experience with AMRAAM development programs
- Strong influential communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present analytic and performance results from the program to executive and/or functional leadership.
- Experience with proposal capture and contract processes from receipt of Requests for Proposal (RFP), preparing Basis of Estimates (BOE), proposal submittal, preparing Statements of Work (SOW), contract startup, and contract close-out.
- Program Management certification, or equivalent to Raytheon PM Level 5 certification.
