Salary Range: $15.16 - $16.20 per hour
Overview The YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and patient Learn & Play Associate, whose greatest passion is to see kids learn and grow, to join our Learn & Play team. Each day, our Learn & Play Associates have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children, creating joy in each childs life by teaching through play and hands?on activities. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Learn & Play Associate will give leadership, direction, and supervision to children and participants in youth programs. You play a key role in ensuring that program participants have a safe, supportive, positive, interactive and enriching program experience that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing programmed activities.
Responsibilities Help prepare, plan and implement a weekly curriculum
Supervise and participate with participants during all large and small group activities
Provide discipline for participants that is age appropriate and maintains respect for the child
Possess a working knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and be able to exercise sound judgment
Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies
Communicate effectively with all other staff, parents, and children
Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents
Supervise locker rooms and swim with children
Complete routine and required forms to include, but not limited to: attendance records, observation records, and incident and injury reports
Prepare snack or meals as assigned
May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for trainings, extended program

Qualifications Minimum age of 16 years
Experience with children leading recreational activities preferred
Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification
