Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and advanced interventions
- Perform detailed patient assessments and continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and hemodynamic stability
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, vasoactive drips, sedation, and other prescribed treatments
- Operate and monitor advanced ICU equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and invasive monitoring devices
- Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies
- Assist physicians during emergency procedures, intubations, central line insertions, and bedside interventions
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, patient safety protocols, and ICU best practices
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting patients and families during critical situations
Requirements
- Active Utah Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact RN License
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- Current ACLS Certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification preferred
- Experience caring for ventilated patients and managing advanced cardiac and critical care monitoring
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, emergency response, and communication skills
- Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to delivering exceptional critical care nursing services
