Job Description Summary - The primary responsibility of the Student Assistant is to support the day-to-day functions of the Office of the Registrar, including acting as the first point of contact for students, staff, faculty, and the general public who walk into or call our office. The student assistant will support professional staff with general office duties, including but not limited to: receiving, processing, and mailing transcript requests, processing and distributing incoming mail, answering the departmental phone line, directing the La Verne community as appropriate to departmental staff, processing photo ID requests, scanning and indexing student record documentation, and other general office duties. As with all positions in this office, it is of utmost importance that the student workers maintain a friendly, professional, and helpful attitude toward students, parents, faculty, and other professional staff throughout the university wide departments. Specific Duties - FRONTDESK: Greet the La Verne community and general public with excellent customer service while adhering to FERPA regulations at the front counter, main Registrar phone line, and main Registrar email account. Receive and distribute departmental mail. Receive, process and mail transcript requests made online, in person, or by mail. Answer general questions about how to order transcripts, view unofficial transcripts, etc. Assist with processing photo IDs, including taking ID photos. Answer departmental phone line. Perform clerical tasks including, but not limited to, word processing, photocopying, filing, faxing, and other general office duties as directed by professional staff within the Registrar's Office. RECORDS: Under supervision from professional staff, scan and index student documentation to their official student records; verify indexing of records and mark hard copies for destruction. COMMENCEMENT: Assist with Commencement-related activities as directed by professional staff within the Registrar's Office. MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES Other tasks as assigned by professional staff within the Registrar's Office. Minimum Qualifications - Must be a current University of La Verne student with Federal Work Study eligibility for the 2026-2027 academic year 1 year of customer service experience General office equipment experience Working knowledge of computer usage Attention to detail Data entry experience Ability to work independently and be reliable Benefits Summary - Employees are eligible for the following benefits: One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
