Job description

Role Description

The Manager, Specialty Programs, Meetings & Events leads a portfolio of client programs, meetings, and events while managing a team of project and meeting management professionals within the Gastroenterology & Rheumatology vertical of the Meetings & Events team. This role provides strategic oversight to ensure successful project delivery, exceptional client service, and consistent execution across programs.

  • Monitors portfolio performance, identifies risks and growth opportunities.
  • Serves as the primary escalation point for client and project issues.
  • Partners with leadership and business development teams to drive client satisfaction and business growth.
  • Oversees financial and operational performance of assigned accounts, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, vendor management, and financial reporting.
  • Ensures projects are delivered in alignment with company policies and industry requirements.
  • Provides leadership for planning and execution of meetings, events, advisory boards, and other engagement initiatives.
  • Supports process improvement, resource management, and team development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in program management, project management, account management, meetings and events, operations, or related disciplines.
  • Previous experience within healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or highly regulated industries preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading client relationships, managing complex projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.
  • Strong business acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, and vendor relationships.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, build consensus, and navigate ambiguity while driving results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Salesforce and event management platforms preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to identify risks and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Serve as the primary relationship lead and escalation point for assigned client accounts.
  • Provide strategic oversight of a portfolio of programs, meetings, and events.
  • Oversee project planning, implementation, and execution.
  • Manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, vendor payments, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, identify risks and opportunities, and implement solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide oversight for the planning and execution of meetings, advisory boards, conferences, workshops, and other client and business-unit events.
  • Guide event strategy, agenda development, content planning, logistics, vendor management, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of project and meeting management professionals.
  • Establish and promote best practices, operational standards, and consistent project management processes.
  • Resolve operational and client-related issues, build alignment across stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement.
