Job description

At Sonos we want to create the ultimate listening experience for our customers and know that it starts by listening to each other. As part of the Sonos team, you'll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.

The Software Delivery & Operations group designs, develops, and operates the shared platforms, tools, and processes that enable Sonos teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently and securely.

We're seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to drive initiatives that improve developer experience, software quality, and operational excellence through better systems, smarter processes, and strategic use of AI.

This role operates closely with platform engineering, release engineering, and developer productivity initiatives across Sonos software development. It sits at the intersection of software development, platform engineering, and engineering enablement, shaping the systems and workflows that power Sonos product development across cloud, mobile, web, and embedded platforms. It's ideal for a technically fluent leader who loves creating clarity, structure, and continuous improvement in complex, cross-functional environments.

Visa Sponsorship: Sonos is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this role at this time. We ask that applicants be authorized to work for any US employer, both now and in the future.

Location: This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston office location and should expect to be in office a minimum of 3 days per week.

About You
  • You care deeply about how software gets built and are motivated to make engineering teams more effective.

  • You have a solid technical foundation in program and project management and are continuing to build skills across software systems, developer tooling, and engineering operations.

  • You are passionate about modern software development practices, including AI-assisted development, automation, CI/CD, and developer productivity tooling.

  • You are organized, collaborative, and comfortable coordinating work across multiple teams and stakeholders.

  • You are eager to learn from experienced engineering and program leaders while steadily increasing ownership and scope over time.

  • You stay informed on emerging trends in developer tooling, AI, and software delivery practices, and are excited to apply new ideas in practical ways.

What You'll Do Program Operations and Execution
  • Support planning cadences, status reviews, and cross-functional coordination across engineering and platform teams.

  • Help maintain work tracking and reporting systems using tools such as Jira, GitHub, and Confluence.

  • Build workflow automations using APIs across systems such as Jira and Confluence, leveraging AI-assisted development tools including Claude Code to accelerate experimentation and operational improvements.

  • Contribute to the evolution of engineering metrics and operational reporting frameworks such as DORA and SPACE.

Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in technical program and project management, engineering operations, or related roles within software or platform-focused environments.

  • Familiarity with modern software development practices including Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and DevSecOps.

  • Hands-on experience configuring or operating engineering tools such as GitHub and GitHub Actions, Jira and Confluence, Jenkins, or AWS.

  • Demonstrated experience with AI-assisted development using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex and ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or Cursor.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders in technical environments.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate initiatives, improve processes, or support operational execution within technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in developer experience, platform engineering, and software delivery operations.

  • Understanding of software delivery metrics or operational reporting concepts.

  • Familiarity with cloud, mobile, web, or embedded software development environments.

  • Desire to grow into broader technical program leadership responsibilities over time.
