Remote | Research Analyst (AI Search & Evaluation) — $35–$60/hour

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced researchers with strong information-search, analytical, and evidence-evaluation skills across a wide range of professional and academic domains.

This role supports advanced AI training and evaluation work involving research-intensive tasks. Selected professionals will investigate complex questions, identify and assess relevant information, evaluate the quality of research outputs, and apply strong analytical judgement across varied subject areas.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Information Discovery

• Conduct structured research across a wide range of topics and professional domains
• Identify relevant information efficiently from appropriate sources
• Navigate complex or unfamiliar subject areas and determine the most useful research approach
• Distinguish authoritative, relevant information from weak or unsupported material
• Synthesize findings into clear and well-organised conclusions

Source Evaluation & Verification

• Assess sources for credibility, relevance, accuracy, and evidentiary strength
• Cross-check important facts and claims across multiple sources where appropriate
• Identify conflicting, incomplete, or insufficiently supported information
• Evaluate whether conclusions are appropriately grounded in available evidence
• Maintain strong citation and source-tracking discipline throughout research workflows

Research Analysis & Reasoning

• Analyse complex questions requiring multi-step investigation and judgement
• Break broad research problems into efficient search and verification strategies
• Compare competing explanations, evidence, or interpretations
• Identify gaps in reasoning and information needed to reach reliable conclusions
• Communicate research findings clearly and concisely in writing

AI Search & Evaluation

• Review AI-generated research and search outputs for accuracy, completeness, and relevance
• Evaluate whether AI responses use appropriate evidence and sound research methodology
• Identify factual errors, unsupported claims, weak sourcing, and reasoning gaps
• Compare alternative outputs and determine which provides the stronger research response
• Provide structured written feedback that helps improve AI research and search capabilities

Quality Review

• Apply consistent evaluation standards across varied research tasks
• Review completed work for factual accuracy, clarity, and completeness
• Identify subtle errors or omissions that may affect the reliability of an answer
• Follow project-specific research and evaluation guidelines
• Produce high-quality work independently within defined timelines

Ideal Profile

• Strong professional, academic, or applied research background in any domain
• Demonstrated ability to investigate complex questions and locate relevant information efficiently
• Strong analytical reasoning and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent written communication and ability to summarise research clearly
• Strong attention to detail and confidence evaluating evidence and source quality
• Comfortable working across unfamiliar topics and learning new subject matter quickly
• Experience with research, analysis, investigative work, academia, consulting, journalism, policy, market intelligence, or another research-intensive environment is highly relevant
• Familiarity with AI-assisted research or evaluation workflows is advantageous but not required
• Ability to work independently and apply consistent research standards across varied assignments

Engagement Details

• Part-time independent contractor engagement
• Fully remote
• Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
• Compensation: $35–$60/hour
• Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
• Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
• H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement
