LocumJobsOnline is working with Wellhart, LLC to find a qualified Hospitalist MD in Fargo, North Dakota, 58102!
We are seeking a dedicated Hospitalist Physician for an engaging 182-day assignment in North Dakota, commencing Dec 1, 2026. Our client requires a physician to manage hospitalized adult patients, providing comprehensive care through day or night shifts, from 7:00am to 7:00pm or 7:00pm to 7:00am. This role encompasses admitting patients, coordinating all aspects of their care, performing evaluations and treatments, facilitating timely discharge planning, and managing critical care scenarios.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Admit and coordinate all aspects of care for hospitalized medical patients, including history and physical examinations.
- Ensure appropriate patient placement within the hospital.
- Conduct evaluation and treatment, including ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies (laboratory, imaging, electrocardiographic examinations) and administration of medications.
- Discuss end-of-life preferences and advanced care planning.
- Consult with sub-specialists as needed.
- Execute timely and proactive discharge planning.
- Coordinate care with the primary care physician.
- Manage patient discharge, ensuring appropriate follow-up is arranged.
- Provide perioperative care.
- Deliver care to patients in critical and acute care settings.
- Assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of inpatients with emergent conditions, including running code teams and rapid response teams.
- Perform procedures such as abscess incision and drainage, thoracentesis, nasogastric tube insertion, reinsertion of gastric tube, fecal occult blood testing, paracentesis, placement of transurethral catheter, aspiration and injection of joints (excluding ankle and hip), injection of lateral epicondyle (tennis elbow), all ACLS procedures, removal of lines and tubes, and lumbar puncture.
