Job description

**POSITION TITLE: **Manufacturing Process Engineer

Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and supporting manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, cost, and overall operational performance. This is a hands-on role that works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to troubleshoot production issues, improve manufacturing methods, develop tooling and processes, and implement sustainable process improvements.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer serves as a technical resource to production and supports the successful transition of new and existing products into efficient, repeatable manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, evaluate, document, and improve manufacturing processes, methods, and workflows.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to manufacturing and production teams, including troubleshooting equipment, tooling, process, and production issues.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, throughput, and cost.
  • Develop and improve production tooling, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing methods.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements to determine appropriate manufacturing processes and methods.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process specifications, routings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and related ERP records.
  • Support the introduction of new products and engineering changes into production.
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure processes are capable, repeatable, and appropriate for production requirements.
  • Investigate manufacturing and quality issues using root-cause analysis and develop appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist in resolving material discrepancies, nonconformances, and other quality or compliance issues related to manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze production data, workflow, cycle times, scrap, rework, and other manufacturing performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in cost-reduction initiatives and recommend process, tooling, equipment, or workflow improvements.
  • Support Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with equipment selection, process development, implementation, validation, and production readiness.
  • Work collaboratively with Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and other departments to resolve manufacturing issues and support production requirements.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining production standards and documented manufacturing processes.
  • Support training of production personnel on new or revised manufacturing processes, methods, and work instructions.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable safety, quality, customer, and engineering requirements.
  • Continuously assess manufacturing and process risks and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risk.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment and comply with all company safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of engineering and manufacturing objectives.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, process engineering, or related engineering environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with manufacturing process development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of root-cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, or similar continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience with production tooling and fixtures preferred.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, routings, and Bills of Material preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and production personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing production needs.

  • **Work Environment:

    ** Manufacturing floor with exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.

  • **Physical Demands

    **: Active role requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting of materials or equipment (up to 50 pounds).

  • **Schedule:

    ** Full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for extended hours or weekends as needed to support production demands.

  • **Travel:

    ** Minimal travel may be required, primarily for training or inter-facility coordination.
