Field Superintendent / Assistant Superintendent
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible construction field supervision experience (Superintendent, Construction Manager, or Foreman titles can work)
- Federal, data center, or large civil commercial experience works (Residential experience will not work)
- Experience supervising multiple crews and subcontractors
- Must be capable of reading plans and specifications and coordinating daily production, sequencing, safety, and quality requirements
Nice to Have Skills & Experience:
- 35 years of heavy-civil or linear infrastructure experience preferred
- Strong background in earthwork, roadway construction, drainage, concrete, structures, utilities, and heavy-equipment operations preferred
- Federal and design-build experience preferred but not required
Job Description:
The Field Superintendent / Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for supporting the General Superintendent with the day-to-day oversight of construction activities in the field. This individual will serve as an additional set of eyes and ears across the jobsite, monitoring subcontractor activities, tracking progress, identifying field issues, and helping ensure work is being completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications.
Day to day:
- Maintain a consistent presence in the field, overseeing daily construction activities across assigned areas of the project.
- Monitor subcontractor crews to ensure work is progressing according to project plans, specifications, schedule, and expectations.
- Coordinate daily activities between subcontractors and help ensure trades are working efficiently around one another.
- Work directly with subcontractor foremen and field leadership to address construction issues and keep work moving forward.
- Monitor manpower, equipment, materials, and overall field progress and communicate needs or concerns to the General Superintendent.
- Review ongoing work in the field and help identify constructability issues, conflicts, or potential rework before they impact the project.
- Coordinate closely with the project's Safety and Quality Control teams to ensure field activities are being performed according to project requirements.
- Participate in daily field meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and planning discussions as needed.
- Assist with documenting daily field activities, progress, delays, and significant construction issues.
- Build strong working relationships with subcontractor supervision and crews while maintaining expectations around safety, quality, schedule, and productivity.
