Business Manager - Card Loss Forecast and AllowanceThe Loss Forecasting and Allowance team resides within our Consumer Card Risk Management Organization and is focused on delivering credit loss forecasts to our Consumer Card businesses (US Card, Canada and UK). This ultimately impacts LOB-wide planning and P&L considerations and directly feeds into company wide earnings. The broader team also works on the annual Stress Testing exercise and a variety of credit performance monitoring activities that help keep senior leaders informed on the state of credit. And you will do it all in a collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibility, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation.This role sits on the Card Allowance team which produces a quarterly expectation for expected lifetime credit losses (i.e. the reserve for loans we expect not to not be repaid, under GAAP accounting standards). This has direct impacts on the consolidated P&L impacts of the business and is frequently discussed in the context of company wide earnings. This work entails analytical rigor, technical savvy, and sound judgement to create forecasts that are ultimately shared by our team to executive level senior stakeholders across the company. In doing so, you will work alongside driven teammates and a variety of cross-functional teams (Accounting/Finance, Capital Risk, firstline business teams, among others) to build out a robust and well-informed product.Additional aspects of this role include gaining familiarity with the underlying models and data, engaging with firstline teams across the LOB's to stay apprised of business strategy changes (ie CLIPs, Acquisitions, Customer Resiliency etc), assessing internal and external trends to derive insights into credit performance, and identifying areas to improve our processes and forecasts.General Responsibilities:Strategic leadership: Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demandsLeadership: May manage and develop 1-2 analysts. Coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital OneProduct: Develop and implement new product and pricing strategies for various lending products; lead product level modeling/analyticsMarketing: Lead direct-to-consumer marketing efforts for select products, and strategic intent for products distributed through the retail channel. Build targeted insights to inform the design and development of new customer experiences, as well as breakthrough technology and concepts designed to deliver on new go-to-market strategiesCredit Risk: Drive step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysisExecution: Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the product strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrentlyPartnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: IT, Sales, Operations, Finance and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitabilityStrategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing & credit risk managementStrong business judgment, leadership and integrity: He/she should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to businessSolid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. Previous consulting experience is a plusBasic Qualifications:At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysisCurrently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field)A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentrationPreferred Qualifications:Master's Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering5+ years of experience in analysis2+ years of experience in financial services1+ year of experience in consulting2+ years of experience in people management
