Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour PM-AM Hours per Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of recent equivalent experience in a fast-paced medical-surgical unit. Level I Trauma center experience preferred; several years at a Level II Trauma center is acceptable. License: RN License (NH or Compact License; proof of state residency required) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Experience with chest tubes, drips such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone, lines/tubes/drains for post-surgical patients, trachs/laryngectomies, telemetry, complex wounds, and central line care and maintenance including blood draws. Description: This position is for an adult surgical unit that cares primarily for trauma patients and acute care surgical patients. The unit has two negative pressure rooms for COVID patients. It is a very busy unit focused on rehabilitating and supporting patients' needs. Common diagnoses include traumas such as spinal cord injuries (new quadriplegics and paraplegics), traumatic brain injuries, and orthopedic injuries from trauma. Acute care surgical diagnoses include hernia repair, small bowel obstructions, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy. Patient ratios are 1:4 during the day and 1:5 at night, with LNA ratios to patients at 1:12. This role requires expertise in managing various medical procedures and patient care protocols. Candidates should possess a strong ability to work in a high-pressure environment, prioritize patient needs, and deliver exceptional care.
