Medical Physics Technician (Full-Time, 40 Hours, Day Shift)

RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Makes treatment aid devices and provides radiation safety and quality assurance support to the Medical Physicists and Radiation Safety Officer.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Essential: standing, sitting, finger dexterity, seeing.

Frequent: hearing speaking, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object, lifting usual weight of 0-30 lbs., pushing/ pulling usual weight of 10 lbs. up to maximum of 30 lbs, lifts usual weight of 10 lbs up to maximum of 30 lbs.

Occasional: walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body, reaching above/at/below shoulder.

Operates hand tools.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposed to hazardous physical conditions, i.e., Alloy 158.

Exposed to atmospheric conditions which affect the respiratory system or the skin, i.e., fumes and dust.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Healthcare, Physics, Engineering, Chemistry or related field; or four (4) years experience in medical physics or closely related health care work may be substituted for educational requirement.
B. EXPERIENCE:

In addition to the educational requirement, two (2) years work experience in medical physics; or Master's or doctorate degree in Medical Physics.

Experience to demonstrate knowledge of the medical field, preferably in radiology, nuclear medicine or radiation therapy.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to complete assignments and projects independently.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and execute a variety of tasks.

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software and have the ability to easily learn other software applications.

Experience in a hospital safety program preferred.
