Medium Truck DriverThe Medium Truck Driver is responsible for driving a truck within a city of industrial area to transport materials, merchandise, and or equipment between various types of establishments. This position completes all required paperwork efficiently and neatly.This individual drives a truck within a city of industrial area to transport materials, merchandise, and or equipment between various types of establishments. Position is also, responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transport of merchandise at Naval Station Great Lakes. There are established pick up points between facilities in a straight truck, under 1 1/2 to 4 tons inclusive, usually six (6) wheels. In addition, the individual is responsible for completing all required paperwork efficiently and neatly.Principal duties include:Sort and prepare material for delivery to TSC, NAVSTA and RTC.Load and offload material for delivery.Drive between facilities and all established pick up points as determined by the contracted route.Establish/maintain positive working relations with Goodwill staff.Clean interior and exterior of vehicle at the end of each shift. Make cursory check of vehicle cleanliness throughout shiftPerform miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedRequirements include:One year of successful driving experience preferred.Holds a minimum of Interim Secret ClearanceDriving record acceptable to insurance carrierAbility to obtain forklift certificationMust be a US Citizen, as defined by US Navy security guidelinesRequired to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) within 90 days of date of hire, pursuant to US Navy security guidelines. Inability to obtain CAC card may result in removal and/or termination from position.Core competencies include:Proven, safe driving recordHigh level of professionalismAble to establish/maintain positive working relationshipsAbility to work under stress, in fast paced environmentEnsure vehicle is fueled at the end of shift.Complete required DOT pre/post trip inspection of vehicle and paperwork of inspectionPhysical/sensory demands include:Able to sit for long periods of timeAbility to recognize colors (i.e. signs, stoplights, etc.)Work involves exposure to the elements indoor and outdoor.Extensive physical activity.
