Senior Associate, Tax

Location: Hybrid (Tampa, FL or Montgomery, AL)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Currently, our partner is looking for a skilled Tax Professional with one to three years of experience to join their hybrid team in either Tampa, Florida, or Montgomery, Alabama. The ideal candidate holds an active CPA license or meets all eligibility requirements to sit for the exam.

Core Responsibilities

Tax Preparation & Engagement Management

  • Take primary ownership of complex tax return preparation while independently executing standard filings with minimal oversight.
  • Direct and evaluate the preparation of foundational and moderately complex income tax returns handled by junior team members.
  • Act in a project management capacity, overseeing engagement workflows and balancing multiple simultaneous priorities, budgets, and strict deadlines.
  • Collaborate with senior management to orchestrate major client engagements, analyze intricate tax codes, utilize financial modeling, and design highly optimized tax strategies.

Client Relations & Problem Solving

  • Serve as a reliable, direct point of contact for client personnel, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
  • Proactively identify potential client challenges, compliance bottlenecks, or tax-saving opportunities and swiftly escalate them to senior leadership.
  • Deliver high-quality client service while maintaining a deep understanding of shifting federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Review the output of entry-level associates, providing necessary guidance, technical training, and constructive feedback.
  • Apply core principles of effective staff supervision to ensure accuracy and efficiency across engagements.
  • Champion company policies and procedures to build an accountable, loyal, and team-oriented workplace environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Active CPA license or full eligibility to sit for the CPA examination in your assigned office's state (Florida or Alabama).
  • Fulfillment of all state-specific minimum educational criteria required for full CPA licensure prior to your start date.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience in tax accounting.
  • Proven capacity to research, interpret, and apply federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for guiding, directing, and evaluating junior staff.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with internal colleagues and external client stakeholders.
