Compliance Test EngineerThe Tesla Energy Compliance team is looking for a Compliance Test Engineer to support the global deployment of grid interactive, grid support and micro-grid inverters.In this role you'll be responsible for grid certifications, ranging from identifying market entry requirements through design consultancy, certification and permitting. Participating in code development groups to advance industry standards while removing technical barriers to facilitate the deployment of innovative product technologies.Location: Fremont, CAResponsibilitiesRun test cases on Tesla energy products for grid and safety compliance. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot the EUT and prepare alternative solutions, negotiate testing scope and pass/fail criteria with NRTLs while meeting project timeline and safe work practicesTesting for inverters, converters & battery modules for product certification.Setup test configuration hardware and firmware, post process test results and submit results to certification bodyPropose and implement process improvement opportunities to facilitate testing and certification processCreate configuration file for each country/utility to meet grid compliance requirementsWrite Compliance Product Design Requirements (CPDR) summarizing grid and/or safety compliance requirements for design team to achieve complianceSupport product registrations and permitting applicationsConsultant to engineering design teamsResearch new market entry requirementsRepresent Tesla on code and committee groups to aid in renewable code advancement and feed upcoming requirements to internal stakeholders for early adoptionTrack codes, standards and regulatory changes and forward planServe as an expert resource for the compliance test engineersWork with NRTLs to achieve product compliance (Plan and manage NRTLs)RequirementsPursuing a Degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, or related fieldExperience taking a solar power and energy storage systems through a certification processExperience with ac/dc power supplies, lab measuring equipment.Experienced in grid interactive and grid support standardsStrong interpersonal and communications skillsAttention to detail and ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of standardsProven track record in renewable product certificationsHighly experienced in global grid interaction/support codes and standardsHigh voltage/power experienceExperience with LabVIEW, Yokogawa, Dewetron or other data acquisition and analyzer tools, grid simulator, RLC load bank and communication interfacesCompensation & BenefitsBenefitsAs a full-time Tesla Intern, you will be eligible for:Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deductionFamily-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefitsDental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans.
