The nurse will work night shifts, totaling 12 hours each shift. The position requires skills in managing and accessing ports, arterial lines, and chest tubes. BiPAP and CPAP management, as well as blood product administration, are essential. Experience in caring for ventilated patients is required. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge in managing chronic and acute renal failure. Experience with continuous IV paralytics and sedation is necessary. CVA and acute stroke management skills are critical in this role. Knowledge of CVVHD and CRRT is preferred. The nurse should be proficient in emergency medication administration. Experience with fresh tracheostomy and GI surgery is beneficial. High flow nasal cannula expertise is needed. The nurse must adhere to infection prevention protocols. Interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias is required. Isolation precautions and the use of PPE must be followed. Familiarity with IV insulin protocols and management of dysrhythmias is essential. Care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure in a medical intensive care unit is expected. The nurse will be responsible for managing PICC lines and monitoring procedural sedation. Knowledge in pulmonary edema and pulmonary embolism management is necessary. The nurse will assist with respiratory failure and sheath removal as needed. Starting and maintaining IVs and suctioning tasks are required. Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and the management of ventilators are part of the role.
