Mechanical Engineer IWe are currently seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer I for our client, a multidisciplinary engineering firm specializing in MEP, structural, industrial, and project management services. This opportunity is available in Pittsfield, Massachusetts; Shelton, Connecticut; or Troy, New York. The firm supports a diverse range of commercial, institutional, manufacturing, and government projects. The Mechanical Engineer I performs moderate engineering tasks assigned and monitored by an immediate supervisor and applies technical knowledge to produce high-quality, timely work.Job DutiesUnderstands moderate engineering principles, material properties, and other applicable engineering concepts.Develops knowledge of applicable codes, safety requirements, and other standards.Under the supervision of a licensed professional, performs design calculations for small projects or a detailed segment of a larger project.Prepare technical reports for review and approval to help establish project design criteria.Maintains familiarity with relevant design and analytical software.Coordinates work with multidisciplinary teams.Communicates technical concepts verbally and in writing.Project ManagementUnderstands the scope of services outlined in project contracts and identifies when client requests are outside of scope.Monitors project deadlines as they relate to assigned deliverables.Asks thoughtful, relevant, and open-ended questions to better understand client needs and actively listens to develop rapport.Visits project sites and attend meetings with clients, architects, and engineers.Prepare status updates on assigned tasks.Business DevelopmentConnect locally with relevant networks to build professional relationships.Participates in the bidding process as needed and requested by senior staff.Leadership / ManagementDevelops an understanding of how individual work impacts the larger goals and strategic initiatives of the firm.Financial AcumenUnderstands accurate timekeeping and its importance to project performance and budgets, and alerts management if a deadline may be missed.Understands the amount of time available to complete each project.Client ServiceCommunicate professionally and promptly with colleagues.Develops a balance of self-confidence and humility, cultivating trust through active listening and teamwork.QualificationsBachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience.Engineer in Training preferredAbility to use engineering software, Revit, and Microsoft Suite products.Work Environment & TravelNormal office environment with moderate noise levels; occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.; regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and reaching.Ability to perform consistent work on a PC.Travel may be required.Annual Salary Range:$75,000 - $80,000 with a benefit packet and 401KGarnet River® is a full-service information technology company that customizes solutions for its clients.
