Bookkeeper PositionThe Accounting department at Mercer University is searching for a Bookkeeper for the Macon, Georgia campus.Responsibilities:The Bookkeeper position in the Grants Accounting Office plays a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity of the university. This position manages daily and annual accounting entries, oversees time and effort reporting, reconciles bank accounts and coordinates campus-wide space studies and surveys. This position works independently and should prioritize work tasks to meet various deadlines. This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Grants Accounting and work is reviewed regularly.Duties include:Assist in the daily and yearly general university entries in the finance system to include cash receipts, cash disbursements, bank transfers and journal entries.Monthly bank reconciliations for various bank accounts and ensuring timely and accurate reporting and payment of university sales tax accounts.Monthly monitoring and preparation of transfers between various loan fund accounts ensuring proper documentation and authorization.Tracking time and effort reporting for grant and contract accounts.Distribute space surveys and update building system data to facilitate indirect cost rate negotiations.Work closely with other members of the accounting team and assist other departments with accounting related questions and assist with other duties as assigned.Qualifications:A high school diploma/GED and three years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in higher education or non-profit setting and/or bank teller experience, are required.
