Hospice Certified Nursing AssistantThe Hospice Certified Nursing Assistant is primarily responsible for helping with personal care needs including baths, medication administration, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos and changing bed linen as often as assigned.Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for HospiceHourly Wage: $20.00 - $25.00 an hour, depending on experienceSchedule: Full - Time, 1.0 FTE / Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (no weekends, evenings or on-call)Service Area: East Metro (coverage area: Lake Elmo, Woodbury, Maplewood and surrounding areas). If unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediatelyProviding patient and family with positive communication techniques, within realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentialityMeeting safety needs of patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O 2 )Giving personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos and changing bed linen as often as assignedAssisting in dressing and undressing patients as assignedPlanning and preparing nutritious meals, including shopping, as assignedAssisting in feeding the patient as assignedTaking and recording oral, rectal and auxiliary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competencyProviding proper care and observation of patient's skin to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominenceAssessing and reporting on patient's condition and significant changes to the Case ManagerAware of the caregiver or other individuals living with the patient and interpersonal issuesAssisting in ambulation and exercise as instructed by the hospice nurse or therapistProvide normal range of motion and transfers/positioning as directedAssistance with self-administered medications as allowed by state regulations, such as "reminders"Offering and assisting with bedpans and urinalsProviding assistance as assigned with light laundry needsPerforming range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competencyProviding respite for patient's/family/caregiver when on-site, as appropriateKeeping patient's living area clean and orderly, as assignedAdhering to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conductParticipates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activitiesRespectful of patient and family/caregiver environment and patient's personal needsFollow all Emergency and Response ProceduresIdentifies home safety issues and notifies RN Case Manager or Clinical Manager of concerns or issuesDemonstrates proper procedures: handling, lifting, transfersInjury – Now What? Follows protocolsOverview of Process, Types of Reports and FormsFollow-up Required – Escalating EventOther duties as assignedQualifications:Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the State RegistryMust have 3 years of experience as a CNA, hospice preferredAt least 18 years of ageMust have Driver's LicenseUnderstands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally illIs self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision. Secure with issues of death/dying.
