CNC Setup & Programming Specialist (Precision Machining)
Reports to: Manufacturing Manager
Department: Manufacturing
FLSA Status
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non Exempt
A day in this role
You arrive to a clean, organized cell, review your traveler and drawing, and load the program you edited yesterday. After dialing in the setup, you run first-piece, verify dimensions, and submit for inspection—confident it will pass because you checked it twice. Between cycles, you update E2 with job details, top off fluid levels, and flag a quick 6S improvement you spotted to reduce setup time on the next run. By day’s end, tooling and fixtures are returned, schedules are met, and another customer order ships on time.
What you’ll do
- Set up and operate CNC machines per travelers, drawings, and specifications.
- Create, edit, retrieve, and execute CNC programs from system files.
- Manufacture parts to quality requirements; inspect and verify your work before submitting for inspection.
- Meet time and schedule standards while identifying opportunities to meet cost requirements.
- Maintain machines: keep them clean and at proper fluid levels.
- Return all fixtures and tooling upon job completion.
- Use the E2 management system to accurately record job information.
- Spot and communicate setup-reduction and Lean opportunities to the appropriate 6S team lead.
- Raise issues to your supervisor promptly.
- Handle non-CNC work as needed: non-CNC equipment operation, hand-work, inspections, and saw-cut operations.
