The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $73,920 - $97,885. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. As an Electrical Engineer I, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.The Electrical Engineer I supports the development efforts on projects aimed at improving production efficiency for electrical systems. This role is focused on learning product structure and capabilities, supporting design tasks and gaining exposure to electrical engineering tools and processes. S&C's Custom Engineering organization designs Engineer-To-Order solutions for a portfolio of products including Manual, Remote Supervisory, and Source-Transfer Vista for a wide range of customers including electric utilities and industrial/ commercial power users. In this job, you will report to the Assistant Manager – Custom EngineeringKey Responsibilities:Designing switchgear control systems and metering circuits to meet specific customer application requirements using S&C automation productsDesigning panel layouts, wire harness, cable assemblies, and generating Bills of MaterialsSpecifying low voltage electrical components including protection relays, RTUs, communication devices, and instrument transformers.Defining requirements and writing custom instructions for production testing of control circuitsGenerating supplementary instruction sheets that describe the operation of control circuitryParticipating in cross-functional design teams to ensure customer needs are satisfied through high-quality product designs that are delivered in a timely mannerProviding engineering support to a team of mechanical and electrical designers and acting as a technical resource for problem-solving activities in both design and production processesWhat you'll Need to Succeed:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineeringExperience in design and drafting electrical schematics and interconnection diagrams for low voltage control circuitsProficiency in the use of CAD systems, preferably Zuken, MicroStation, SolidEdge, or AutoCADExperience in, or working knowledge of, medium voltage switching, and protection products and systems is not required but is a plusMust be self-motivated, well-organized, and skilled decision maker that is comfortable in a fast-paced design and manufacturing environment.Strong technical abilities with good interpersonal and communication skillsOutstanding problem-solving skillsExperience with scripting languages such as Python or creation of Excel macros using VBA is a plusMajor Physical Demands:Standing: Occasional standing for workLifting: Occasional lifting of switchgear components, less than 40 poundsWalking: Occasional walking throughout the facilityCarrying: Occasional carrying of light objectsPushing: Infrequent pushing of objectsPulling: Infrequent pulling of objectsBending: Occasional bending during access to equipmentReaching: Infrequent reachingHandling: Occasional handling of parts or toolsEnvironment: Standard officeReady to make an impact and become an employee-owner?
