Senior Mechanical Design EngineerPay: $55 to $60 hourlyDuration: 12 months, possibility of extensionSchedule: Mon-Fri 40 hours with overtime as requiredSummaryA senior mechanical design engineer responsible for providing detailed mechanical designs of handling and process equipment.Responsible for all aspects of the design, build and debug of equipment including vendor management.Hands-on mechanical support for the installation, start-up and debug glass manufacturing process equipment.This includes working with a multi-functional team (mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, operations, etc.)Involves the application of mechanical principles encompassed in mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design used for the design, production, operation, and use machinery of all types.Requirements7+ years of mechanical equipment design experienceProficient with SolidWorksCompetent with structural FEA analysisExperience with design, install, start-up and debug of robust mechanical equipment suitable for the manufacturing environment.Ability to effectively manage mechanical and electrical trades executing equipment install and debug.Knowledge of machine guarding and safety practices and standards (OSHA, etc.)Good written and oral communication skillsAbility to collaborate and work with diverse teams (skills, gender, culture, race, etc.)EducationBS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology requiredKey ResponsibilitiesWork closely with internal project team to understand design requirementsIndependently determines and develops approaches to solutionsResponsible for installation and debug at factory siteProvide hands on input and insight into equipment installation and troubleshootingVerify equipment build and layout of drawingsCoordinate installation plan with safety and plant receiversConfer with client's engineers and vendors to resolve equipment install or build discrepancies.Travel RequirementsPotential travel of 25%, Travel to a supplier or vendor may be required for equipment check-out before shipment.
