Job Description: SUNY Broome Community College invites applications for qualifiedcandidates to teach as part-time adjunct instructors withintheHealth Information Technologydepartment. Adjunct instructors will have the opportunity to teach in avariety of online Health Information Technology (HIT) courses.Opportunities vary by semester. The department is establishing a pool of candidates tofill potential part time temporary teaching positions. Thesepositions are filled on an as-needed basis per semester and areon-going recruitment efforts. Applicants are contacted/hiredfor assignments based on college needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limitedto: Deliver instruction in fully online Health InformationTechnology courses, which may include: ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding. Healthcare reimbursement and revenue cycle processes. Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Healthcare data management, quality, and compliance. Facilitate student learning in an asynchronous onlineenvironment using Brightspace, the College's Learning ManagementSystem. Maintain an active online presence, including regularcommunication with students and participation in discussionforums. Provide timely grading and constructive feedback in accordancewith departmental expectations. Incorporate applied learning activities such as codingexercises, case studies, and real-world healthcare scenarios. Promote ethical and compliant handling of health information inalignment with HIPAA and related regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performanceand course materials. Offer academic support to students through timely communicationand, when appropriate, scheduled virtual meetings to reviewcoursework and provide guidance. Develop and deliver instructional content in an online format,which may include recorded lectures, demonstrations, or guidedwalkthroughs to support student learning. Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology or arelated field. A Master's degree in a related field ispreferred. RHIT or RHIA credentials required. Other relevant AHIMA, AAPC,or clinical certifications may be considered. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicantsmust be authorized to work in the United States without current orfuture sponsorship from the employer. Preferred Qualifications Recent professional experience in healthcare coding, CDI,compliance, or revenue cycle or HIM operations. Prior online teaching or training experience. Familiarity with online course delivery and learning managementsystems (e.g., Brightspace). Experience integrating healthcare technologies or emergingtools into instruction.
