Job Summary
Kitty Hawk Kites & Adventures, established in 1974, is a leading adventure recreation retailer serving 7 states with over 25 locations along the East Coast. We sell clothing, kites, watersports equipment, and toys, and we pride ourselves on customer service, quality, safety and value. We are seeking an experienced, energetic Retail Store Manager for our Barnegat Light, NJ location where you will maximize customer and staff satisfaction, maintain company policies and procedures, and collaborate with the Retail District Operations Manager to drive performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate within KHK Inc. core values, mission, and purpose statement.
- Carefully select, train, and schedule staff; maintain correct staff levels across seasons and holidays.
- Attend company functions and / or meetings as required.
- Supervise staff and manage the store's day-to-day operations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and attractive store environment.
- Generate opening & closing reports, payroll reports, sales documentation, marketing reports, and budget projections.
- Handle transfer forms, packing slips, and merchandising updates.
- Monitor stock levels, facilitate back-stocking or inter-store transfers.
- Ensure daily cash deposits and accurate record keeping.
- Address maintenance needs and maintain general store upkeep.
- Assist the buyer with feedback on trends and product performance.
- Support the Retail District Operations Manager by communicating changes or issues.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or 1–2 years related experience and / or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical documents.Proficiency in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.Strong numerical and analytical skills, including calculation of discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and basic algebraic concepts.Problem-solving ability in varied, non-standardized situations.Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled form.Working Conditions
The position is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled environment; occasional outdoor work may be required. Typical noise level is moderate. Physical Requirements : About one-third of the time will be spent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Another one-third to two-thirds of the time will involve standing, walking, sitting, and reaching. The employee may lift up to 25 lbs and perform continuous computer work, cash register tasks, sales floor activities, events, and mail-order work.
