Our client is the U.S. subsidiary of the Italian leading food company, and one of the major partners in the export of premium Italian and European foods to the United States.

The Group is recognized as a leader in private label program development, partnering with top U.S. retailers to design, source, and manage high-quality, authentic food assortments that deliver both value and differentiation.

Building on this expertise, they are now entering an expansion phase of its branded business, with the ambition to scale a portfolio of distinctive consumer brands that combine European quality with modern market appeal.

The Role

We are seeking a driven and experienced Sales Director to lead the commercial strategy and execution of the Group’s branded portfolio in the U.S. retail market.

This highly strategic and entrepreneurial role requires a strong commercial mindset and the ability to coordinate cross‑functional efforts across marketing, trade marketing, operations, and finance – in close collaboration with U.S. and European teams.

The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands‑on execution, ensuring commercial plans are consistent with brand strategy and operational capabilities.

The Sales Director will manage relationships with key retail customers, distributors, and brokers, while building the internal structures necessary to support sustainable growth. Over time, we expect the sales leader to build and lead a dedicated U.S. sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the U.S. sales strategy for the branded products portfolio
  • Deliver sales revenue targets
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail customers, distributors, and broker partners
  • Own the full commercial execution – from customer presentations and retail visits to the coordination of all sales and trade marketing activities – ensuring alignment and excellence under a unified game plan
  • Oversee pricing, trade spending, and promotional planning to achieve sustainable growth and profitability
  • Monitor market trends, category performance, and customer insights to identify new opportunities
  • Manage annual sales budgets, forecasts, and P&L performance
  • Recruit, coach, and lead a high‑performing U.S. sales team as the business expands
  • Partner with the senior leadership team to contribute to overall U.S. growth strategy

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 10 years of sales experience in the food & beverage CPG industry
  • Proven success managing branded products in the U.S. retail channel
  • Experience working with national retailers, distributors, and broker networks
  • Pre‑existing strong connections are a plus
  • Strong understanding of the commercial levers across sales, marketing, trade marketing, and operations
  • At least 50% travel time; must be proactive to visit clients and stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Humility, self‑awareness, and curiosity
  • Italian language and knowledge of imported Italian products is preferred
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate strategically and tactically in a fast‑growing environment
  • Compensation

  • Competitive annual base salary, DOE
  • Annual performance‑based bonus, based on goals
  • 401(k) : 3% (up to 6%) available after 1 year
