Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of clients’ mental health status through individual counseling sessions, utilizing structured interviews, standardized assessments, and clinical observations.
• Design and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each client’s specific needs, incorporating a diverse range of therapeutic modalities.
• Facilitate ongoing therapy sessions—both individual and group—ensuring a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts and emotions.
• Monitor client progress regularly, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to reflect their evolving needs.
• Provide referrals and collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients experiencing co-occurring disorders.
• Document all client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately using our electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Actively participate in team meetings and case discussions to share insights, improve treatment approaches, and ensure a collaborative environment.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at A Step Ahead Counseling Center, you will engage with a broad spectrum of clients facing various challenges such as anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse issues, and eating disorders. Our approach emphasizes cultural competence, and we serve a diverse clientele, working to ensure that all treatment methodologies are inclusive and sensitive to individual backgrounds and experiences. Qualifications

• A Master’s degree or Doctorate in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Possession of a current and valid license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New York.
• A minimum of four years of related clinical experience providing mental health counseling services.
• Comprehensive understanding of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment approaches.
• Experience in delivering both individual and group therapy using culturally responsive methodologies.
• Strong crisis intervention skills, with the ability to effectively de-escalate challenging situations.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the capability to build rapport and trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficient in the use of electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant computer applications.
• A commitment to maintaining ethical standards, professional boundaries, and confidentiality at all times.
• A willingness to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to enhance treatment efficacy.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in specific therapeutic areas such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), or trauma-informed care.
• Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote counseling best practices.
• Prior experience working with underrepresented populations or in community mental health settings.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
