This full-time remote position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals affected by trauma. As a mental health counselor, you will specialize in providing trauma-informed care to patients, facilitating their recovery through passionate and skilled support.

About the Organization

High Focus Counseling, LLC is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment tailored for trauma survivors. Our community health clinic specializes in evidence-based treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. We cultivate a holistic and compassionate approach to mental health care, striving for excellence in patient support and outcomes. Our mission is to empower individuals on their path to healing and resilience through collaborative and best-practice methodologies.

Work Environment

This remote role provides flexibility in your work schedule while being fully integrated into a dynamic and supportive team culture. You will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists and mental health counselors, fostering a collegial atmosphere dedicated to comprehensive patient care. As part of our trauma-informed practice, you will engage in regular case consultations, team meetings, and professional development workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patients’ trauma histories, enabling you to identify appropriate therapeutic approaches tailored to each individual's needs.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans focused on trauma recovery, healing, and resilience-building, effectively guiding patients through their therapeutic journeys.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based interventions such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Deliver crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies, ensuring safety and emotional stability for patients in distress.
  • Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and community resources, fostering empowerment and understanding.
  • Document clinical interactions accurately and confidentially in compliance with legal and ethical standards, leveraging electronic health record (EHR) systems effectively.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research and developments in the field of trauma therapy to further enhance your clinical practice and our service offerings.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on individuals affected by various forms of trauma, including survivors of abuse, neglect, and other significant life stressors. You will work with a diverse clientele, offering personalized care to help them navigate the complexities of trauma and improve their overall mental health and well-being. As a therapist, your work will not only address immediate psychological needs but will also facilitate long-term healing and resilience in your patients.

Qualifications

  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in the state of California.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of trauma-related disorders, resilience-building approaches, and trauma-informed treatment modalities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, cultivated through a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to therapy.
  • The ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations, ensuring optimal support for patients during their therapeutic experiences.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and related technology.
  • A collaborative mindset, eager to work alongside multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Preferred Experience

While 2 years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting is preferred, we value any relevant experience that showcases your comfort and competence in delivering trauma-focused therapies. Experience with specific interventions such as EMDR or TF-CBT will enhance your candidacy but is not required.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive annual salary ranges from $90,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience. In addition to a robust salary, we offer a comprehensive healthcare benefits package—including medical, dental, and vision coverage—along with a retirement savings plan featuring employer-matching contributions. Our employees enjoy generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay, professional liability insurance coverage, and support for ongoing education and professional development.
