The Salisbury VA Healthcare System is seeking a dedicated full-time (Gastroenterologist) Staff Physician in Salisbury, NC, to lead our compassionate healthcare team. Our facility is equipped with advanced Olympus scopes for comprehensive GI procedures, providing an excellent environment for professional growth. POSITION DETAILS: The Gastroenterologist's responsibilities include providing high-quality inpatient and outpatient care to adult veterans, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, supporting nurse practitioners, and ensuring thorough documentation. Additional duties may involve participating in committees, quality improvement initiatives, education of trainees, and involvement in clinical research.
Benefits
Salary Range: $350,000-$400,000
Sign-On Bonus: Authorized
Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Authorized - up to $200,000 student loan repayment
Compensation: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases
Work-Life Balance: Flexible scheduling options, including standard 8-10-hour workdays or compressed work schedules
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid leave (including 26 vacation days, 13 sick days, 11 federal holidays, and possible 5-day paid CME absence)
Retirement: Federal pension (5-year vesting) and 401(k) with up to 5% VA contribution
Insurance: Comprehensive federal coverage (health, vision, dental, life, and long-term care), with many programs portable into retirement
Licensure: Only one full, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory required
CME: Possible reimbursement up to $2,500 per year
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No physician employment contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting

Requirements
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required (non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens are not available)
Education: Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree (MD/DO) from an accredited institution
Licensure: Valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
Residency: Completion of an accredited residency in a relevant specialty
Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible;
Experience: None required
