Utility Worker

Utility WorkerA Utility Worker is responsible for loading and unloading of raw material/finished product as well as cleanliness of plant and equipment.Essential Duties/ResponsibilitiesNothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.Loads and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.Operates machinery used in production process or assist machine operators.Places products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting and wrappingExamines products to verify conformance to quality standardsStarts machines or equipment to begin production processesObserves equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected, and notify operators, supervisor or maintenance of any malfunctionsRemoves products or waste material from machinesLifts raw materials, finished products and packed items, manuallyTransfers finished product or raw material between storage and work areas of plant by hand or using forkliftPacks and stores materials and productsMarks and tags productsDisposes materials into machine hoppers prior to mixingMixes ingredients according to specified procedures or formulasRequired to know, implement and delegate FSMS responsibilities as required.Uses high pressure hose to wash parking lot, plant equipment, and surrounding areas of plant including spilled material on lotPaints and washes plant equipment and building fixtures as necessaryRequired to use standard hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, wrenches, etc.) and power tools (drills, impact drivers, saws, etc.)Operates company vehicles around plant and propertyEnsures steady flow of raw material from trailers to dock in safe and efficient mannerChecks and reports condition of raw material load and truck interiorMaintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulationsOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications High school diploma or GEDMust be at least 18 years old with clean MVRPreferred QualificationsExperience in a manufacturing environment.Working Conditions and Physical DemandsFrequently exposed to high noise levels, strong odors, varying temperatures, and biohazardous conditions.Travel to off-site locations is required.Requires prolonged sitting and frequent walking/movement, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb or balance.Must be able to communicate effectively and identify potential workplace hazards.Requires the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 100lbs.Darling Ingredients is an equal opportunity employer and gives consideration to qualified applicants without regard to race, color, creed, religion, age, pregnancy, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, genetic information, physical or mental disability, military service, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state and local law.
