Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of inpatient medical experience required License: VA or Compact license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Chemotherapy experience - Blood transfusion experience - Experience with neutropenic precautions - IV skill and management - Isolation precautions knowledge - Experience with patient populations such as COPD, Diabetic, Cellulitis, Pancreatitis, Sickle Cell, Oncology, and Respite/Hospice Description: Our unit specializes in palliative care and oncology. We have a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6. Holiday requests must be pre-approved. Christmas requests for time off will not be approved. Candidates must possess experience in administering chemotherapy and blood transfusions. Our patient population includes individuals with conditions like COPD, diabetes, cellulitis, pancreatitis, sickle cell disease, and oncology needs. Attention to infection control, including neutropenic precautions and isolation practices, is critical. The registered nurse will provide comprehensive patient and family education and support. Flexibility to float within the facility may be required to meet patient care needs. Weekend shifts are required every other week. The unit is supported by various interdisciplinary services, including physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. The daily census ranges around 29 patients. The unit consists of 32 beds. Experience with Epic charting is preferred.
