Job Title: Nursing Float Pool RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience required License: Current Nursing License Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Experience with respiratory, congenital anomalies, hematology/oncology, post-op, trauma, and NICU patients. Experience with cardiac patients is preferred. Trach management, vents, chest tubes, Foley catheters, surgical drains, arterial lines, central venous lines, blood draws, IV starts, CPAP, high flow, oscillator/jet ventilator, central lines, dressing changes, heliox, nitric respiratory support, and cardiac rhythm interpretation are required. Experience with medication drips such as Fentanyl, Propofol, Precedex, Epi, and Levo is mandatory. EPIC experience required. Description: Float pool nurses must be able to travel to multiple campuses. Assignments are posted 90-120 minutes prior to shift start. The facility includes a Level IV Perinatal Center and Level III NICU. The NICU beds vary from 54 to 61, depending on the assigned unit. The NICU includes private rooms and pods for patient care. Patient types include NICU patients such as premature, neuro, GI, and feeder/grower. Cardiac patients include TAPVR, COA, valve replacements, ASD, VSD, CHD, HLHS, post-catheterization, and heart failure, but do not include transplants. Nurse-to-patient ratios in the NICU are 1:2-3, based on patient acuity. Support within the department includes CNAs, charge nurses, and resources for line insertion assistance. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, along with hospitalists and neonatologists. The unit promotes teamwork and a friendly culture. Travelers are expected to work on weekends and 75% of holidays. Shift times are from 0700 to 1900 and 1900 to 0700. A six-week scheduling cycle is in place, with schedules provided two weeks in advance.
