- Full-time
Security Specialist
The Security Specialist supports the company's cleared security program in a Defense and Aerospace EMS environment, working directly under the guidance and direction of the Facility Security Officer (FSO). The role carries out day-to-day security administration as assigned: clearance processing, COMSEC support, classified material control, and training coordination. The Security Specialist does not set policy or make independent security determinations; all decisions, reportable matters, and exceptions go to the FSO. The focus is accurate execution and NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117) compliant, audit-ready records, so the FSO can focus on oversight and the DCSA relationship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the FSO with security clearance requests in DCSA systems (NBIS/eApp and DISS), guiding applicants through the SF-86 and checking submissions for completeness before FSO review.
- Schedule fingerprints, track investigation status, and assist with reinvestigations, continuous vetting, transfers, and debriefs as directed.
- Maintain personnel security records (eligibility, access, SF-312 NDAs, briefings) and promptly refer foreign travel, foreign contacts, and adverse or change-in-status information to the FSO for evaluation and reporting per SEAD 3.
- Assist the COMSEC Account Manager in receiving, storing, issuing, and accounting for COMSEC and keying material per NSA/CSS policy, as directed by the FSO.
- Assist with COMSEC inventories, transfers, and destruction; maintain hand receipts and access rosters; and report incidents to the FSO immediately.
- Process incoming and outgoing classified material per established procedures, including receipt, logging, wrapping, and dispatch, and maintain security container and combination records (SF-700, SF-701, SF-702).
- Prepare classified visit requests for FSO approval and maintain visitor logs, badging, and access control records.
- Assist with FSO-approved security briefings and track required training.
- Assist with DCSA security reviews and self-inspections, and draft updates to Standard Practice Procedures (SPP) and security forms for FSO approval.
- Maintain DD Form 254 files, support insider threat and incident inquiries, and escalate all security decisions to the FSO.
Qualifications:
- U.S. citizenship required; must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance after hire.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred.
- 0 - 2 years of industrial or personnel security experience with a cleared contractor or government agency.
- Basic knowledge of the NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117) and DCSA systems (NBIS/eApp, DISS, NISS).
- COMSEC custodian or alternate experience preferred; SFPC, ISOC, or ISP certification a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, discretion, and ability to follow direction; MS Office proficiency (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., classified shipments).
