Senior Litigation Associate

Position: Senior Litigation Associate – Labor & Employment Up to $285,000 base salary + bonus 1,800 annual billable hours Job Summary: I'm partnering with a respected California law firm to identify a talented Senior Litigation Associate to join its growing litigation practice. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced litigator to handle sophisticated labor and employment matters, work alongside knowledgeable attorneys, and contribute to meaningful legal work for public and private sector clients. Labor and employment experience is strongly preferred, but attorneys with a solid civil litigation background who are interested in transitioning into this practice area are encouraged to apply. The position offers a competitive compensation package, hybrid flexibility, and the ability to work from Sacramento, Emeryville, or Santa Cruz. Key Responsibilities: Handle labor and employment litigation matters, including employment-related disputes involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other workplace claims. Manage cases through all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. Conduct legal research, draft persuasive briefs and other litigation documents, and develop case strategies. Advise and collaborate with clients and colleagues on complex legal issues, risk management, and dispute resolution. Represent clients in court proceedings, administrative matters, arbitrations, and other litigation-related forums as appropriate. Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Active California Bar membership in good standing. Substantial civil litigation experience, ideally at the senior associate level. Labor and employment litigation experience is highly preferred; candidates from other civil litigation backgrounds with a genuine interest in L&E will also be considered. Strong legal research, writing, analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills. Ability to independently manage cases, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues. Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $170,000 – $285,000 annually . Factors which may affect pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Medical Insurance: 100% employer-paid premiums for employees enrolled in the basic medical plan. HSA Contribution: $250 monthly employer contribution toward an HSA, with an option to apply it toward the medical plan if an HSA is not used, subject to plan rules. Paid Time Off: 3 weeks of vacation and 10 days of sick leave. 401(k) Profit-Sharing Plan: Employer match equal to 1% of salary when employees contribute 4%, beginning after the first month of employment.
